About Nathan

Nathan Sahyouni, PsyD, completed both his masters and doctoral graduate training in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He’s been practicing in the field of behavioral health since 2012. He has experience working in diverse settings including hospitals, elementary schools and universities, community mental health centers, and outpatient clinics providing individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy.

Dr. Sahyouni works from a client-centered and strengths-based therapeutic framework, incorporating existential and psychodynamic theoretical paradigms to facilitate client healing and growth.  His current areas of professional focus include the address of general mood disorders, anxiety, relationship problems, process and behavioral addictions, general adjustment to life stressors and changes, and trauma in adult populations.  Dr. Sahyouni additionally has experience working with children and adolescents with trauma backgrounds exhibiting disruptive behaviors, and he maintains a growing professional interest in the intersection of sexuality, spirituality, and the internet. Dr. Sahyouni’s dissertation research explored the lived experience of pornography use within marriages where Christian spirituality and faith was a mutual priority of both partners.

Nathan has spent the majority of his life in and around the greater Chicagoland area, and he enjoys building authentic connections within his local community. He has been a member of the American Psychological Association for over five years and has recently become involved in the Illinois Psychological Association.  In his free time, he enjoys cooking, playing sports, and roasting his own coffee.
