About Whitney

I completed my master’s in clinical counseling and psychotherapy at the Institute for Clinical
Social Work. My interest in psychoanalysis emerged during my PhD in philosophy at
Northwestern, where my research focused on the limits of knowledge and on methods of
attuning differently to the parts of human experience which are not observable by others. By
offering a space to speak freely and by highlighting what, in your speech, opens into dimensions
of your experience that have not been speakable before, I aim to facilitate greater intimacy with
what, in you, falls out of social relationships and to foster the capacity to contribute this to the
world around you.

I work well with those interested in exploring the puzzling and often painful behaviors,
thoughts, and feelings which bring them to therapy. I work with a wide variety of presenting
problems, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and psychosis.

What I’m like as a therapist
I attend to dreams, slips of the tongue, and unintended actions to facilitate the articulation in
speech of what is otherwise repeated and encoded in symptoms. Patients find that this
experience often opens into unexpected affective dimensions as treatment progresses.
